The Yuxin lustrous light-up cube was purchased to facilitate cubing in low light/dark, but fails as a speed cube. I pre-ordered this one instead of the shen shou lustrous because reviews stated the shen shou was hard to turn. The same applies to the Yuxin Lustrous.
Pros
The lights and scenes are great. It has several nice colors and a few color scenes. The sticker colors are nice, and visible when the light is set to white. The magnets are strong and provide a nice click into position. Makes a good night light or desk piece.
Cons
As usual with Yuxin, the cube is tensioned super tight and dry out of the box. (Seems tighter/drier even than the new plastic V1 YLM out of the box though.) The center caps are very difficult to remove, such that I didn't get two of them off for fear of breaking them. But, there is no reason to remove the center caps since the cube tensions can't be adjusted. Unlike almost every other cube, the tensions are not adjustable, making this useless as a speed cube, or even as a practice cube for metronome exercises. When trying to solve, slowly, the light button (white center cap) changes the color scene in the middle of the solve at the slightest touch, turning the previously distinguishable color stickers to something not so distinguishable.
Verdict
Great decoration, useless as a speed or practice cube.
Edit: cube was lubed with my favorite, Lunar. I assume knowing that tensions are not adjustable (verified by SCS customer service) would be an important detail for any consumer considering purchase of this cube. Product description provides no indication of this. Product Details indicated the magnets are adjustable, which I also think is an error.
