Our History

After losing $200 of his hard-earned savings, 14-year old Cameron Brown was tired of dealing with unreliable service from overseas puzzle retailers.

Cameron's dream became opening the first speedcubing and twisty puzzle shop in the USA with a mission to provide (and surpass) the kind of service that he expects as a customer.

In 2009, young Cameron's dream became a reality and SpeedCubeShop opened with a modest selection of products.

Present-day, SpeedCubeShop remains the industry's most trusted retailer, has opened a second warehouse in Canada, and continues to grow while staying true to Cameron's core values.

Cameron Brown, the founder and CEO, began speedcubing in elementary school after becoming inspired by the Will Smith movie, The Pursuit of Happyness.

In April of 2008, Cameron began competing in World Cube Association competitions and made a name for himself through his YouTube channel, camcuber, and speedcubing career.

Present-day, Cameron is 29 years old and still loves speedcubing more than ever.

Cameron's other hobbies include racing his BMW M3 at the track, drifting his Nissan 350Z, art, and watching anime. Cameron's passion is running SpeedCubeShop which has been a full-time job for him since 2015.

As the Creative Director and Brand Designer at SpeedCubeShop, Carlos Banos Ibarra brings a visionary approach to shaping our brand's aesthetic narrative. With a rich background in graphic design and a passion for creativity, Carlos oversees the strategic development and implementation of all visual elements that define our corporate identity.

Carlos's journey with SpeedCubeShop began in high school, where he met the founder and CEO, Cameron Brown. Since then, their collaboration has been marked by a shared vision for innovation and design. While contributing part-time over the years, Carlos officially joined SpeedCubeShop full-time in 2018, bringing his expertise to bear on our company's growth and success.

Our Las Vegas General Manager, hailing from Bakersfield, California, brings a unique blend of passion and dedication to his role. An aficionado of Red JDM cars and Japanese-made watches, he’s also setting his sights on expanding into Swiss timepieces, should our clientele’s enthusiasm for cubes increase.

When he’s not overseeing operations, you might find him immersed in simulated golf—despite never having broken 100, he has managed to break two shafts in his quest for perfection. A devoted fan of the anime *One Piece*, he is perpetually on a treasure hunt for the next big adventure. His eclectic interests and relentless drive make him an invaluable asset to our team.

Hailing from Sacramento, Jayden is a dynamic presence on our team, known for his diverse talents and impressive achievements. A competitive cuber with an official single 3x3 time of 6.94 seconds, he also showcases his musical prowess with a collection of over 40 instruments, including 13 guitars and unique pieces like a jaw harp, custom-made trumpet, and didgeridoo.

His competitive spirit extends beyond cubing and music—he’s also a former national gymnast. Not one to shy away from challenges, he has astonishingly consumed 100 chicken nuggets in just 30 minutes, not once but twice. His remarkable skills and zest for life make him an extraordinary and vibrant part of our team.

From East Lansing, Michigan, Elisa is a vibrant member of our team with a passion for nurturing and creativity. As a dedicated plant mom, she cares for an impressive collection of over 35 Haworthia succulents, showcasing her green thumb and love for plant life. Her artistic flair shines through in both her drawing and digital art, reflecting her creative spirit.

Recently, Elisa has taken up the gym with enthusiasm, marking her as a budding fitness enthusiast. Additionally, her expertise on the claw machine is unmatched, making her our go-to for arcade challenges. Elisa’s diverse interests and energetic personality add a unique and invaluable dimension to our team.

Hailing from Las Vegas, Kayla is a cherished member of our team with a wide array of eclectic interests. A dedicated collector, she boasts an impressive collection of over 100 plushies and figurines, showcasing her passion for unique and whimsical items. Her love for orange cats is matched only by her enthusiasm for video games and manga books, reflecting her vibrant and playful side.

Kayla is also a skilled miniature architecture model builder, creating intricate designs that highlight her attention to detail. When she's not immersed in her hobbies, she’s enjoying her favorite Raising Cane's dishes and spending quality time with family. Her diverse interests and warm personality make her a standout asset to our team.

Sevastian, from Las Vegas, brings a dynamic blend of enthusiasm and expertise to our team. A passionate card game aficionado, he excels in Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!, showcasing his strategic prowess and love for competitive play. His hands-on creativity extends to building model kits and Gundams, where he skillfully assembles intricate designs.

When he's not immersed in his hobbies, Sevastian enjoys diving into Fortnite and various RPG video games, further highlighting his diverse interests. His energy and varied skill set make him a valued and versatile member of our team.

Sam is a dedicated team member with a knack for creative problem-solving and technology. Outside of work, he channels his passion for innovation into puzzle designing and enjoys the challenge of playing a variety of video games.

Sam is also an avid enthusiast of 3D printing, constantly exploring new ways to bring his digital creations to life. His diverse interests and inventive spirit make him a valuable asset to our team.
