I just got this cube for Christmas and I quite like it.
The packaging and box are pretty good quality.
The auto alignment is very nice. It makes it pretty easy to turn, but it doesn’t feel like it’s doing the turn for you.
My only complaint is that the loosest settings are a little too tight, and the max magnet strength is a little too weak. I find the max magnet strength perfect, but if I wanted it stronger I wouldn’t be able to because it’s at max. Same with the tension settings.
And the hand tightening gimmick is kind of silly because the Centre caps clip on, which makes it really hard to get them off without the little tool.
So you why would you need to have the hand tightening mechanism when you need the tool to take of the centre caps. That’s just my opinion.
Other than that this cube is perfect for my turning style. I have a a strong and forceful turning style. So I tend to like controllable and stable cubes with strong magnets. And this is definitely an upgrade from the ys3m which I loved.
I’ve been doing 2 to 3 hour sessions and my hands are fine. The auto alignment was a little weird at first, but now I’ve come to really like it.
I have my cube set to 1 for elasticity, and 3 for tension. For lube I did a Combination of galaxy lube and lunar lube.
Would I recommend this cube?
Depends
If it happens to go on sale for less than $70, it would be worth it.
If you’re on a budget, I would recommend the ys3m Ball core maglev.
At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference.
I love this cube so much because it fits my turning style so well. It might not appeal to someone who has a light gentle turning style, because it was made to be a controlable and stable cube.
I hope to see more cubes like this in the future. 9/10
