The 7x7 tribox calendar cube is as well designed as it is satisfying to turn. While I find it beginner friendly since it requires very little algorithms to put a month together since you are essentially only putting together one side I disagree with the description on it being a good start in learning big cubes since much more algorithms will be used on regular big cubes compared to this one. I found that it is an excellent decoration piece that serves as a new challenge every month due in part because it can be challenging keeping track of the numbers. However; i recommend that you keep a different calendar as well. Because of the triboxs nature of being a once a month challenge it struggles to stay in your mind like marking off days on the calendar or rebuilding a 3x3 calendar every morning to match the day. Which means as cool as it is it inadvertently fails to serve the purpose of keeping track of the days effectively. I still recommend it though as a wonderful decorative puzzle.
I got this cube for Christmas (2025) and I absolutely love it. The cube itself turns very smoothly right out of the box. The numbers are very easy to read and are printed right on the pieces - way better than stickers. The magnets are not too strong but not too weak either.... it's a good balance. I have it had to set yet much yet (haven't owned it long) but I found it easy enough to set if you understand 7x7s, commutators, and how edge pairing works.
