Are you on a tight budget but still want speed cubes with great performance? No worries, there are plenty of options that provide a high-quality solving experience at a very affordable price!

The RS3 M 2020 is legendary for its incredible performance at a very cheap price. Many high-level speedcubers choose to main this cube over more expensive ones, which shows just how amazing it can be. The puzzle features a dual-adjustment system to customize spring compression, frosted stickerless plastic, and weaker magnets.

This cube is perfect for cubers who prefer a fast and light feel, and have a light turning style. However, it also works well for cubers with other turning styles because it can be lubricated with heavier lubes, such as Cosmos or Nebula, as well as set to higher spring compressions. If you prefer a stronger magnetic feel, then you can get the Magnet Upgrade Kit for only $1.49 to easily install additional magnets in the puzzle.

The cheap price and versatility of the RS3 M 2020 have made it extremely popular with cubers of all skill levels. It's an easy recommendation to anyone getting started with speedcubing, as it delivers top-tier performance at a budget price.

The MoFang JiaoShi 3x3 Magnetic is also an extremely cost-effective 3x3 at only $6.95. It has a similar design to the RS3 M 2020 but without a dual adjustment system. The piece design is slightly different, resulting in a blockier, crunchier feel that some cubers may prefer over the smooth tactility of the RS3 M 2020. It has moderate strength magnets which assist with controllable turning.

The QiYi MS 3x3 Magnetic is QiYi's equivalent of MoYu's Meilong 3x3. It features glossy plastic and moderate strength magnets. Compared to other budget cubes, the QiYi MS corner cuts a little bit less, but it also has a very nice blocky, clacky feel that's reminiscent of the popular Valk series.

The YuXin Little Magic 3x3 Magnetic is an updated version of the non-magnetic Little Magic, which was one of the most popular budget cubes several years ago. The puzzle features primary internals and a very different piece design that give the cube a much more buttery, muted turning feel than other budget cubes.

The YJ Mini ZhiLong 3x3 is a great choice for those looking for a smaller 3x3. It's only 50 mm across, as compared to the 55.5-56 mm standard-size 3x3. It's perfect for travel and can be easily be thrown into a backpack for on-the-go solving. Although dry and sandy out of the box, the ZhiLong can become an excellent mini cube with proper setup.

One of the less well-known options of budget speed cubes is the DianSheng 3x3. It has a very distinct aesthetic and feel due to the unique piece design. It's very light and clacky, and it has pretty good performance. Although it's not as good as other budget speed cubes, the DianSheng 3x3 is an interesting alternative if you want something different.

Lubricant

SpeedCubeShop highly recommends using lubricant on speed cubes, especially budget ones since they often have little to no factory lubricant. Not only does it make your puzzle feel and turn better, it also extends the longevity of your cube by reducing plastic friction and wear. Click here for a guide on what exactly lubricant is and how to use it.

If you don't want to lubricate the cube yourself, SpeedCubeShop offers various services, such as Supernova and Cosmic, where professionals can do it for you! Click here to learn more.

Magnets or No magnets?

Magnets increase the stability of the cube and help make turning more accurate by pulling the cube into a cubic shape. It's highly recommended to get a cube that comes factory-magnetized, even for cubers on a budget. Although there are cheaper non-magnetic options, it's definitely worth spending the few extra dollars on getting a magnetic puzzle as it will perform significantly better.

Honorable Mentions Above $10

If you have a couple extra dollars to spend on a 3x3, then these options are great!

Monster Go EDU 3x3 Magnetic by GAN Cube is an updated version of the previous flagship and is here for the sole purpose of being the best bang for your buck. Overview Insanely fast turning Smooth, "wet" turning feel Stable… >> SHOP PRODUCT <<

The Monster Go EDU is GAN's budget 3x3 intended to rival MoYu's RS3 M 2020. It has a unique, wet, buttery feel but no customization options, unlike the RS3 M. If you want to try something different from what everyone usually has, this cube is a good option.

The MoYu RS3 M 2021 is an upgraded version of its predecessor, now featuring MagLev technology. MoYu replaced the traditional springs in the core with repelling magnets, which reduce the friction between layers. This gives the cube a super fast feel, so you might want to use lubricant to slow it down a little bit.

The cube also has the same dual-adjustment system as the 2020 version and can be customized to one's liking.

Disclaimer: Due to the cheap price of these cubes, manufacturers sometimes cut costs during production which may lead to lower quality control. If you receive a defective puzzle, email service@speedcubeshop.com for assistance.
