This megaminx is very good, to say the least. It turns great out of the box, and it came with some black pieces and a spring system, thing. I think it also comes WITH UV coating, no extra cost. It is relatively small, but that is good for my hands. If you want a bigger one, get the large. It’s great!
I just completed my first full solve of this megaminx. It's a true pleasure to solve. It's a good size, the magnets really help, and it feels really nice. Highly recommended.
IMHO, this is currently the best Megaminx on the market (and I have all the current highly regarded Megaminxes for comparison). Straight out of the box, it’s a joy to use. It feels quite loose, but, because of the magnet arrangement, it doesn’t feel unstable and, so far, I haven’t had a corner twist.
I purchased both the Standard and the Large sizes, to see which I preferred. For comparison, the Standard is identical in size to the DaYan Megaminx V2 (and to the GAN Megaminx). The edges of the Large are approximately 1.5mm longer than the edges of the Standard, but, while this doesn’t sound much, in practice, the Large does feel significantly bigger. That said, the YJ YuHu V2 Megaminx is even bigger still, being around 1.5mm longer on the edges than the Large.
The magnets do a great job of keeping the edges aligned, with a noticeable (quiet) ‘click’ as the edges snap into place, but this is never intrusive.
Overall, I highly recommend this Megaminx. I would describe the size of my hands as average and I prefer the Standard size, although I’m quite happy with the Large. If you have larger hands, the Large might be better.
Turning is smooth, cube is pretty quiet, decent corner cutting. Definitely on par with gan megaminx while being half the price. My biggest gripe would be the lack of adjustability and I’m not a fan of the slick coating. As someone with small hands, it can be hard to hold. Also lube dries up kinda fast on the edge pieces, needs frequent re-lubing.
Overall I’d give it 5/5 for performance, 5/5 for vibrant colours (+ included black pieces), 3.5/5 for grip, 3/5 for lube effects (core was very receptive and lasted a while, edge felt little difference and dried up fast) for a total score of 4.35/5 overall. Good minx, get Dayan instead of gan!
