X-Man Design has released their second iteration of their popular Wingy skewb after many years. Here is a first look at the details of the newest X-Man Wingy Skewb V2 M flagship fit with the latest adjustment features and tools.
Specifications
The X-Man Wingy Skewb V2 weighs in at 68g - considerably lighter than its predecessor, has adjustable spring tension, magnets and was released on 2022-06-07. It is available in stickerless only.
Accessories
Included with the Wingy Skewb V2 is the adjustment tool, adjustment guide and skewb solving guide presented in a bright red box.
Adjustment
Importantly, the Wingy Skewb V2 features extensive spring and magnet adjustment options, the first of its kind in a skewb. Accessing to the spring and magnet adjustment systems are under the corner caps, which must be pryed open.
The Wingy V2 has five adjustable magnet settings, five adjustable spring compression settings, and five adjustable tension ("screw depth") settings. The spring adjustment system is the same of that of the X-Man Tornado V2 M, where the user can individually modulate the spring compression and the "axis distance".
Alongside the highly effective spring adjustment system, the strength of the magnets in the skewb can also be adjusted. Unlike the spring adjustment system, the magnet strength system can be adjusted by hand. Notably, adjustable magnet strength is a first for any skewb, despite being present in flagship 3x3s for a number of years.
Feel & Performance
The corner cutting is very snappy, the turning is very buttery... the V1 is really scratchy and more effort to turn
Cameron Brown, 2022
Notably, the sound generated when turning the Wingy V2 skewb. in comparison to the V1 is much quieter than the V1.
The Wingy Skewb V2 is now available for order at time of writing, and at $21.95 is a solid contender for cuber's skewb mains.
