Update: 6mo later
This cube after tuning and using it has actually become what I call my "car cube". The case is great and the cube is actually so good that for the price and functionality it lives in my car. I've loosened it to the point of being very springy and it spins nice. Sort of a good clicky spinny cube that flows well enough for when I just happen to go somewhere and want a cube. So while I am in my car waiting for my kids, stuck sitting I've got a solid cube thats cheap enough with a great case always waiting for me. If the heat kills the cube or it gets stolen I won't have lost a top cube, but for the price this has it's place.
Original Review:
I'm not super fast Cuber. I'm a dad with little cube people in the house but a lot of my own cubes. The Hu Dong is nice. It's got it's own feel but end of the day I set it down and pick up my Tornado V4, my Gan12, my Moyu WV10 or my Moyu RS3 V5 Ball core. For a price of about 28 bucks and a coupon for another few bucks off I'd get the Moyu's instead.
Having said that a good review on the next Hu Dong and I'd buy another one. They've got something, it just doesn't hit the mark just yet. I think if I keep tuning it. Tighten it up, add some solid center lube it might be really nice. It's just sort of sandy and too flexible. Doesn't "click" into place like my others. So for the price it doesn't work. I'd say if the price were say $22 bucks it would be a deal but it's not there.
